Senior Manager Plant & Process Safety

This position has a hybrid setup with approximately 3 days per week on site.

Tasks & responsibilities

• You will serve as a strategic advisor for Plant & Process Safety Management across all Boehringer Ingelheim sites, applying a risk-based approach to ensure strong EHS performance within all corporate entities and to safeguard supply chain integrity.
• In this role, you will design and implement corporate-wide EHS procedures and standards related to Plant & Process Safety, supporting sites in preparing for and achieving EHS compliance.
• You will also be responsible for defining the strategic direction, leading implementation, and overseeing the operational execution of a global EHS capability at both the corporate and regional levels.
• You will lead, through a dotted-line structure, a cross-functional team of professionals to identify and solve technical, operational, and organizational challenges, adjusting priorities to meet resource needs and operational demands.
• Additionally, you will interpret EHS regulations and establish cross-functional (Animal Health, Human Pharma, Bio, R&D) standards to optimize compliance costs, ensure reliable product supply, and prevent regulatory actions.
• To uphold Boehringer Ingelheim's strong EHS reputation, you will balance regulatory compliance with commercial considerations.
• You will maintain close relationships with key decision makers and influence critical internal and external stakeholders to secure effective outcomes that support Boehringer's long-term success.

Requirements

• Doctoral degree or master's degree (e.g., MBA, MSc or comparable) in the field of EHS, engineering or natural sciences
• Expertise in Plant & Process Safety combined with knowledge of relevant processes, procedures, and systems
• Long-term work experience as well as several years of leadership experience
• Strategic entrepreneurial thinking and acting, agile and innovation orientated mindset
• Good interpersonal and -cultural sensitivity
• Fluency in English, good German language skills as a plus
