(Senior) Manager Global Patient Advocacy Relations

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic individual to join our Global Patient Advocacy Relations (PAR) team. In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to shape and implement PAR strategies across the lifecycle of our medicines. You will be instrumental in managing initiatives, fostering strong relationships with Patient Organizations (POs), and ensuring compliance with all internal and external regulations.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • In your new role you will contribute to the successful development of Global Patient Advocacy Relations (PAR) therapeutic area (TA) strategies and implement PAR initiatives supporting TA objectives and PO needs across the lifecycle of medicines, starting early in development in the assigned TA(s).
  • It is your responsibility to develop and implement these PAR strategies which will require strategic thinking, PAR expertise, effective management of initiatives using existing resources, effective collaboration and alignment with cross-functional team members including the regions and countries (R/OPUs).
  • You will ensure that initiatives and metrics of success are aligned (with Corporate TA teams and [R]OPUs), communicated and integrated in eIBPs, IBPs and ICPs.
  • You will collaborate with the global PAR cross-country network and support development of PE excellence by sharing initiatives and best practices.
  • Further you will develop and manage strategic relationships with Patient Organizations (POs), for example national and international POs supporting people living with diseases, for which the TA is seeking solutions.
  • In addition, you will foster the patient centric culture in the TA and more broadly across the organization.
  • Finally, you will ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations in PO interactions/collaborations, strategy planning, communication, and implementation.

The Senior Manager will also:

  • Leverage TA and cross-country PAR best practices to develop PE maturity across R/OPUs.
  • Mentor PE/PAR colleagues to develop community expertise and advise the respective TA/cross-functional teams and (R)OPUs.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in business, health economics, natural/social sciences, medicine, closely related discipline
  • Multiple years of direct experience in PAR in the pharmaceutical industry at a local or global level with demonstrated success in co-creating value with Patient Organizations
  • Additional prior experience in other functions in the pharmaceutical industry at a local or global level is highly desirable
  • Solid understanding of the PAR, market access, health policy, regulatory (e.g., FDA patient-focused drug development and EMA patient engagement), legal/compliance environment
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering value through successful stakeholder management (patient organizations, payers, policy makers) which is Characterized by respect, trust, empathy and passion
  • Solid communication skills, high motivation, and a solution-orientated mindset
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken) and proficiency in additional languages would be desirable

Additional Requirements for the Senior role:

  • Several years of direct experience conducting strategic or operational work on PAR. Additional prior experience in either or multiple of the following functions: Market Access, Public Affairs, Medicine and Marketing within prescription medicine is essential
  • Few years of experience conducting work in a pharmaceutical company at a global level is essential
  • Demonstrates an advanced understanding of the patient advocacy and their role within the healthcare ecosystem
  • Consistently demonstrates impact of systematically integrating patient insights along the entire value chain
  • Proven experience in building and growing multiple long-term collaborative partnerships with external stakeholders with evidence of impactful outcomes
  • Proven leadership experience
