The job
We are seeking to fill a postdoctoral position as soon as possible to conduct process-oriented research on environmental biofilms and to supervise the biofilm infrastructure at the UFZ.
Your tasks
- Conducting independent process research on environmental biofilms, specifically running water biofilms, in alignment with the UFZ strategy and the strategy of the Research Unit "Water Resources and Environment"
- Establishing and developing research programs on the role of biofilms in maintaining ecological functions and the impact of stressors on biofilm structures and functions in running waters
- Scientific supervision of the confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM) at the UFZ site in Magdeburg; This includes utilizing and further developing modern CLSM-techniques within the scope of your own biofilm research and through collaborations.
- Integrating the CLSM infrastructure into scientific networks
- Independently securing third-party funding and establishing a research group

Your profile
- Master's degree in environmental sciences
- Completed doctorate specializing in microbial ecology, particular biofilm research
- Research experience working with environmental biofilms, particularly in visualization and process measurement methods
- Relevant publication record demonstrated by high-impact publications of your own research
- Ability to work in a team and willingness to collaborate within research consortia and networks
- Supervisory and leadership skills
- Experience in securing third-party funding is beneficial

The job position is available for full-time or part-time employment.
Contract limitations
limited contract / The Position is initially limited to three years and may be extended for a further three years upon positive evaluation.
Salary
Remuneration according to the TVöD public-sector up to pay grade 13 including attractive public-sector social security benefits.
