Welcome to Warner Bros. Discovery… the stuff dreams are made of.

Who We Are…

When we say, “the stuff dreams are made of,” we’re not just referring to the world of wizards, dragons and superheroes, or even to the wonders of Planet Earth. Behind WBD’s vast portfolio of iconic content and beloved brands, are the storytellers bringing our characters to life, the creators bringing them to your living rooms and the dreamers creating what’s next…

From brilliant creatives, to technology trailblazers, across the globe, WBD offers career defining opportunities, thoughtfully curated benefits, and the tools to explore and grow into your best selves. Here you are supported, here you are celebrated, here you can thrive.

Your New Role…

The Programming Department for our free-to-air factual TV channels currently oversees the brands DMAX, TLC, and HGTV. Each channel is managed by a dedicated Programmer who is responsible for both operational and editorial planning, as well as for representing the channel and coordinating communication with all connected departments across the company — including Press, Ad Sales, Digital, Marketing, Media Operations, Protection of Minors/Legal, and Broadcast Scheduling.

The Programmer for DMAX also serves as the overall Manager responsible for the programming strategy of all free‑to‑air factual channels. The Programming team works in close, daily collaboration with several other key areas of the Content division, such as Dubbing, Original Productions, Content Acquisition, Licensing & Rights Management, and Media Planning.

Please note – this is a fixed-term contract for 12 months.

Your Role Accountabilities…

  • Own the day-to-day schedule for one of our HGTV free‑TV feeds in the German-speaking region (GSA), ensuring a compelling, audience-first grid across dayparts.
  • Partner on channel strategy: support the “FTA Programming Manager Factual” in developing the channel’s editorial strategy and long-range planning horizons.
  • Create standout moments: independently develop highlight concepts (stunts, theme weeks, premieres) and scenario plans—then implement them into our planning tool of the content management tool “Content Explorer”.
  • Inform and align the business: craft clear programming notes and updates for internal stakeholders (e.g., On‑Air Promotion, Marketing, Ad Sales, Press, Operations, Rights Management, International).
  • Read the market: continuously analyze ratings, competitor moves and broader market trends to optimize performance and identify growth opportunities.
  • Communicate proactively: foster effective, ongoing collaboration with all relevant internal interfaces.
  • Support the wider multi-platform team: while we transform our portfolio into a holistic digital framework you will be participating in new initiatives and projects that go beyond the linear channel HGTV and enable you to develop your skillset, both editorially and technically. Also covering other channels for certain periods of time will be part of your role.

Qualifications & Experience…

  • Solid professional experience in TV programming/scheduling—ideally within an international media company.
  • A structured, reliable, detail‑oriented working style paired with strong accountability.
  • Excellent German and English skills (written and spoken).
  • Flexibility, clear prioritization skills, and calm under pressure.
  • Deep familiarity with the German TV landscape and free‑TV dynamics.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for television, a passion for high‑quality content, and an affinity for factual formats and TV shows.
  • A strong, communicative personality - collaborative, yet self‑directed.
  • Preferably hands‑on experience with scheduling systems such as Content Explorer.

How We Get Things Done…
