In order to support the Composite Technology Center GmbH, Airbus Operations is offering an

Internship - “Finite Element calculation method integration into fibre path planning for automated fibre placement” (d/f/m)

For Composite Technology Center GmbH (CTC) in Stade, we are looking for students for practical assignments (internships), the topic can subsequently be continued in the form of a bachelors or master thesis. The CTC GmbH is a wholly owned subsidiary of Airbus Operations GmbH. CTC is Germany's leading centre for research and development in the field of design and production of carbon fiber reinforced plastics; with an international reputation as an expert for process development, series readiness and production optimisation. The focus of the CTC's work is the development of series technologies for the production and assembly of carbon fiber reinforced plastics in aircraft construction. In the CTC, you can contribute to various projects in your area of focus and have a great deal of creative freedom.

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Literature research on relevant topics and requirements analysis
  • Identification of the necessary modeling scale and parameters to be exchanged between path planning algorithm and Finite Element Analysis
  • Interface definition and verification of the necessary feature set of the process brick
  • Implementation of the functions in the digital process chain
  • Modeling and validation with digital and/or physical demonstrators



Desired skills and qualifications

  • Enrolled full-time student (d/f/m) in the area of mechanical/lightweight/composites/ aerospace engineering, possibly software engineering or an equivalent field of study.
  • First practical experience in the field of Computer Aided Engineering and Finite element methods programming as well as fiber composite design and manufacturing is desirable.
  • Fluent in English and good German skills.
  • Ability to work independently and on your own initiative
  • High intrinsic motivation, teamwork and communication skills
