Lead the Future of Medicine - as Head of Research & Development and ClinPharm Biostatistics

We are looking for a senior leader capable of defining the vision and strategic direction for this newly established and uniquely structured team. The scope spans from pre-clinical activities, providing key input for VVH, Toxicology, CMC and Research, through to ClinPharm studies supporting regulatory submissions.
This position has a hybrid setup with approximately 2 days per week on site.

Tasks & responsibilities
- In your new role you will develop and implement the statistical vision and strategy for R&D and ClinPharm statistics in alignment with organizational goals in R&D, ExpMED, Medicine and regulatory requirements.
- One of your main responsibilities will be to ensure quality, integrity, reproducibility and timely provision of all statistical analyses and deliverables, supporting internal decision making and submissions to regulatory agencies.
- Moreover, you will lead the development and implementation of innovative statistical methodologies and data science approaches to accelerate drug development and improve decision quality.
- You will lead, mentor, and develop a team of statisticians and data scientists, fostering a culture of scientific curiosity, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Furthermore, you will represent the R&D and ClinPharm statistics function in senior leadership forums, governance bodies, and external scientific communities.
- In addition, you will initiate and ensure implementation and oversight of strategic partnerships and interactions with external providers (e.g. CROs).
Requirements
- PhD or Master's degree with strong statistical/mathematical background and long term professional experience as senior statistician in preclinical and/or clinical development in the pharmaceutical industry in an international context as well as several years of it in a leadership role.
- Comprehensive knowledge of preclinical and clinical drug development in the pharmaceutical industry, with a strong understanding of scientific and operational aspects of the relevant collaboration partners in R&D and clinical development
- Proven strategic planning and forecasting skills, including the ability to assess regulatory trends in R&D and Clinical Data Science as well as extensive experience in statistical methodologies to ensure efficient and effective study designs across all relevant areas
- Exceptional project management, communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, with sensitivity to diverse cultural and organizational contexts
- Demonstrated ability to lead and prioritize activities across R&D and/or clinical projects to maximize the return on investment (ROI) of R&D and/or ClinPharm statistics resources
- Ability to drive, manage, and promote change effectively; to manage a very broad and diverse stakeholder group, ensuring appropriate prioritization and timely delivery across organizations
- Fluency in English, written and spoken
