RWE AG

To start as soon as possible, full time / part time, permanent

As Data Architect, you provide architectural guidance for the group-wide data architecture and the data-mesh operating model. You turn "domain ownership and trusted data products" into a working standard the RWE Operating Companies actually adopt.

About the role

  • Define and maintain the federated data-mesh reference architecture and the few must-follow interoperability standards (identifiers, core field names, metadata).
  • Set the data-product standard (owner, contract, quality, documentation) and the reusable blueprint together with our RWE business units.
  • Design the shared data-product catalogue / marketplace and the lakehouse architecture; define how domains publish and consume.
  • Support domains in defining boundaries (including cross-org domains) and mapping owners.
  • Keep choices model-/cloud-agnostic and exit-ready; input to vendor consolidation.

Job requirements and experience

  • University degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Technology or related field.
  • Several years of hands-on working experience in Data architecture and Data mesh design in a regulated decentral environment.
  • Deep data architecture and modelling skills as well as proven knowledge of data-mesh / data-product design at scale.
  • Firm with Databricks / Unity Catalog, plus Fabric or Snowflake; lakehouse and open table formats.
  • Experience in Metadata, cataloguing and interoperability standards.
  • Ability to build strong influence and enablement across federated business units.

Advantageous, but not essential

  • Experience in the "Energy-sector data context" is a plus.

RWE is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive environment - we value your passion, your willingness to learn and your desire to thrive. Even if you don't have all of the above skills , but think the job would be a good fit for you, you need flexible working arrangements or we need to make adjustments not yet listed here, we'd love to hear from you.

Your Benefits

  • Independent work on exciting and responsible tasks.
  • Close collaboration in a motivated team with an open feedback culture that promotes your personal and professional development.
  • Insights into a global energy company.
  • Hybrid working and flexible working time models.
  • Free access to the Health Center, modern open workspaces, free parking, e-charging stations and much more.
  • Structured and digitized pre- and onboarding process supported by the web-based app RWE+You.

For over 125 years, RWE has been reliably supplying electricity. Our team of around 20,000 people is shaping the energy world of tomorrow. Today, RWE is one of the world's leading renewable energy companies. With our growth strategy we are setting the pace and investing billions of euros every year - above all in the expansion of offshore and onshore wind, solar energy and battery storage. Our diverse portfolio is perfectly complemented by our global energy trading business. With our mix of renewable and flexible generation, as well as a broad pipeline of new-build projects, we are well positioned to meet the growing global demand for electricity, particularly driven by further electrification and artificial intelligence. At the same time, we are contributing to the decarbonisation of the energy system. The reduction of our carbon emissions is in line with the 1.5°C climate goal of the Paris Agreement, and we are phasing out coal responsibly by 2030. By 2040, RWE aims to achieve net-zero, fully embracing our purpose 'Our energy for a sustainable life'.
