Praedoc (Diss) (f/m/x)
(part-time, 30h per week)
in the IQOQI junior research group “Theoretical Quantum Simulation” for the project „QS-Gauge“ led by Ass.-Prof. Torsten Zache.
Your Tasks
- Theoretical research in quantum simulation of non-abelian lattice gauge theories
- Contribute to writing scientific publications
- Presenting latest scientific results at conferences and workshops
- Supporting supervision of PhD, master and bachelor students
Your Profile
- Master’s degree in physics with focus on theoretical quantum physics
- Demonstrated experience in at least one of and strong interest in the following subjects
- Quantum computing with qudits, quantum error correction
- Quantum optics of trapped ions and Rydberg atoms
- Numerical tensor network methods
- Topological order and (de)confinement in stringnet models
- Quantum field theory, lattice gauge theory
- Excellent communications in spoken and written English

The minimum annual gross salary for this position is EUR 53.140,92 (full-time based), in accordance with the collective agreement of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW). For part-time employment, the salary will be adjusted on a pro rata basis in line with the agreed working hours.
