In order to support “A400M Electronic Warfare Ground Support System”, Airbus Defence and Space is looking for a

Systems Engineer - Ground Support System (d/f/m)

If you are looking for challenging tasks within a development team and you are interested in systems and software related to military aircrafts, you should apply for a position as Systems Engineer in the engineering department.

We develop and maintain mission support systems for our flying platform A400M at the Airbus-site in Manching/Germany. Our mission support system enables the Defensive Aids Subsystem (DASS) of A400M to protect the aircraft from threats during mission execution.

Our mission support products comprise the generation and evaluation of mission-specific data, provide interfaces to the airborne systems and support the analysis of the mission execution. The key challenge includes the execution of all operational requirements of our diverse customer base while considering the technical capabilities and constraints of our aircrafts.

Your tasks and responsibilities

The job holder will become part of an agile team developing and in-service supporting a state-of-the-art mission data generation, verification and debriefing system for the A400M DASS aircraft.

  • Analysis of avionics system design/requirements, data interfaces and operational requirements
  • Definition and adaptation of design requirements to mission data generation, incl. workflow definition
  • Produce project technical documentation, including: requirements specification, design document, interface specification and acceptance tests
  • To identify and resolve system integration, verification and qualification issues
  • Issue troubleshooting and analysis
  • Preparation and Performance of end user trainings
  • Preparation and Participation to customer workshops
  • In Service Support to customer for mission data generation and aircraft operation



Desired skills and qualifications

  • University Engineering Degree or Master in Aeronautical Engineering or equivalent, and minimum of 5 years of experience in Systems Engineering (preferable in Aeronautics or Military sector)
  • Good knowledge of the entire product life cycle, from requirements analysis to system integration and verification.
  • Working experience on one or more of the following specialty areas: self-defensive systems, radar systems, and electronic support systems.
  • Knowledge of Electronic Warfare principles and interest in mission data for Electronic Warfare Support
  • Familiarity with Atlassian software development and collaboration tool set (Jira, Confluence and Bamboo)
  • Working knowledge with engineering tools such as DOORS, Enterprise Architect (System modelling).
  • Good command of English, and German is an advantage
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to travel within A400M nations (DE, FR, UK, TR, ES, BE)



This position will require a security clearance and A400M accreditation or will require being eligible for clearance by the recognized authorities.
