Senior Technical Expert of Electrolyzer Process Engineering (f/m/d)

A Snapshot of Your Day
In your role as Senior technical expert for the domain of process engineering of electrolyzers you develop and steer future proof process engineering in and around electrolyzers, for both PEM and Alkaline technology. This bases on your vast experience in designing a complete supply system from P&IDs down to requirements in equipment specifications, of course with state-of-the-art performance characteristics. As part of an expert community, you also guide people on how arrange the total process flow in electrolysis systems in a very competitive way. Your outstanding domain expertise in the composition of process components helps the SES product development teams to have to right products ahead of market trends. You also support project teams in project applications and in their interactions with customers and grid operators. How You'll Make an Impact

  • Acting as the go-to person when it comes to the total process view of our electrolyzer product lines, being embedded in an expert community as well as reporting directly to the head of Engineering in SES HS
  • Understanding, leading the design and shaping the process designs to the needs of the application as well as driving the development of innovative, competitive and reliable solutions for the electrolyzer supply systems in the MW-area, including all auxiliaries needed
  • Generating impulses for technology trends and innovative ideas for future electrolysis plants as well as guiding non-experts, development teams and projects as subject matter expert
  • Driving process and design improvements focusing on efficiency enhancement and design to cost measures.
  • Responsibility for identifying technical gaps to ensure quality of engineering deliverables and requesting support from other technical experts if needed
  • Provision of support and guidance to the team for system & equipment design, development of data sheets, P&IDs and I&C specification and definition of process guarantees as well as support in HAZOP, risk assessment and SIL study for various sub systems
  • Ensuring design guidelines and relevant engineering codes and standards


What You Bring

  • Master's degree or PhD in process engineering, with strong focus on process optimization and performance criteria
  • Minimum 10 years of experience at expert level around process definitions for electrolyzers
  • Proof-pointed experience in the development, testing and operation of different types of electrolyzers technologies is essential for this position
  • Intensive working experience in engineering or other technical functions as well as ability to deal with the interface requirements of partners
  • In-depth knowledge of electrolysis technology and design as well as knowledge of codes and standards - DIN/ ASME / API / ANSI / NEMA / NPFA etc.
  • Competencies in engineering tools such as COMOS and deep understanding about P&IDs methodology, valve and heat exchanger design, gas analysis and water chemistry (incl. sampling & dosing)
  • Deep understanding of the process flow composition and its elements drives your activities for component ratings
  • Team work & collaboration capabilities including communication skills
