In order to support the DevOps Platform Services & Dev Tools department (DIDP ) , Airbus is looking for an IT Architect DevSecOps (d/f/m) .
Join the Airbus DevSecOps department as an IT Architect and become a vital design partner in transforming our global Software Engineering Platform. You will work in close peer collaboration with a highly experienced architect and the platform engineering team to shape the systems that simplify developers' lives, enforce security, and foster an innovative coding culture across the entire company. In this role, you will be crucial for defining technical designs, driving execution, and ensuring the scalability and reliability of the Enterprise DevSecOps Platform that powers all Airbus development teams.
This role is also available with reduced weekly hours and an adapted scope of tasks.
Your location
You will be working at the largest production site for civil aircraft situated in Hamburg. Its location on the southern banks of the river Elbe includes the option to commute by ferry. Experience the special flair of Hamburg in your spare time where vibrant cosmopolitan culture meets nautic legacy.

Your tasks and responsibilities
Joining a high-impact Architecture and Engineering team, your main responsibilities will include:
- Architectural Design: Partner with architects to define technical standards and create detailed implementation blueprints for the DevSecOps Platform's evolution.
- Toolchain Optimization: Design and optimize deployment, security, and integration patterns for core tools including GitHub/GitLab, Jenkins, and Kubernetes.
- Security Integration: Actively design and enforce robust security controls into the platform architecture, ensuring full compliance with SSDLC standards.
- Technical Execution: Provide continuous architectural guidance to platform engineering teams, ensuring designs translate into scalable and reliable code.
- System Optimization: Analyze platform performance and cost-efficiency, designing sustainable improvements with an emphasis on Cloud-native solutions.
- Standardization & IaC: Define and promote Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible) best practices and advanced GitOps CI/CD patterns.
- Incident Management & Post-Mortems: Lead the architectural response to critical platform incidents, fostering a blameless post-mortem culture to drive long-term structural improvements.
- Proof of Concepts: Lead technical evaluations and pilots for new architectural components, focusing on operational feasibility and scaling.
Desired skills and qualifications
- Educational Background: University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Architectural Experience: Proven experience as a hands-on Architect, Software Designer, or Principal Engineer for large-scale enterprise platforms.
- Cloud & Infrastructure: Deep knowledge of Cloud computing (GCP, AWS preferred), networking, and Container Orchestration (Kubernetes/EKS/GKS).
- DevSecOps Mastery: High proficiency in the architecture, administration, and integration of core DevSecOps tools and security principles.
- Automation & IaC: Expert knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible) and advanced CI/CD pipeline design patterns.
- Communication: Mandatory professional working proficiency in English to articulate complex designs to international teams.
- Collaboration: Proven ability to work effectively as a technical peer with engineering teams and diverse business stakeholders.
