Your tasks and responsibilities
Lead and Manage a team of approx. 20 software architects and requirements engineers for the Weapon System Eurofighter. The holder of the position will be responsible for:
- Disciplinary and technical leadership of the team in charge of designing the software architecture of the developed item for the Weapon System Eurofighter. This include all functions related the Attack & Identification capabilities of the Eurofighter.
- Ensuring compliance of the activities regarding associated technical and organisation obligations, in accordance with the delegation of authority for the design organisation regarding such functions.
- Managing and optimising resources in a context of many parallel developments (4 National, UK National, German national and export projects).
- Active decision making regarding technical decision impacting the design or the various software systems associated with the Eurofighter Attack & Identification functions. In case tasks are delegated, ensure appropriate levels of competence and autonomy within the teams.
- Definition, implementation and adoption by team members of a renewed tool-chain enabling increased efficiency (Automation of software life-cycle, automatically generated code, continuous integration & deployment).
- Transitioning the team to the era of software defined and AI enabled weapon systems. Fostering the adoption of AI based tools in order to enable the team to develop more capabilities in shorter amounts of time.
- Make or buy strategy related to internal or subcontracted activities related to Software design. The optimisation of resources is required due to the increase of workload.
- Managing risks associated with the Time, Cost and Quality delivery by the team, from the identification during Engineering quotations until the projects' end (over multiple years and multiple projects in parallel).
- Managing the interface with System engineers and Avionics Joint Team located on the premises of our partner in UK. Regular interface with our customers and their representatives.
- Checking technical deliverables from suppliers contracted with software design work packages.
- Ensuring within the team adherence to behaviours and compliance according to regulations, legislation and company expectations (EHS, Compliance, Export control, Leadership model).
Desired skills and qualifications
- Engineering degree in computer science, informatics or equivalent
- Experience in software development and certification processes
- Experience in Military Avionics, Mission Systems, Weapon Systems or other safety-critical systems
- Leadership in technical environment
- Project management / team management / business development experience preferred
- Strong understanding of our products, our competition in the industry and positioning together with an entrepreneurial spirit
- Innovation and problem-solving skills with strong customer focus
- Ability to manage conflicts in a constructive manner
- Eurofighter knowledge and experience would be a plus
- English skills on negotiation level, German/Spanish/French skills preferred
