In order to support Air Power Engineering, Airbus Defence and Space is looking for a

Aerodynamics Engineer with a focus on Flight in Icing Conditions (d/f/m)

Our group is responsible for the aerodynamic design and characterization for airbus military aircraft programs along their product life cycle. Within this context a position for a skilled aerodynamicist with a technical background in flight in icing has opened.

Your tasks and responsibilities :

  • Aerodynamic design and analysis to ensure compliance with flight in icing conditions.
  • Selection, development, and integration of methods and tools for icing analysis and certification
  • Perform watercatch and ice accretion prediction as preparation for windtunnel and flight testing
  • Quantification of aircraft aerodynamic performance and safety in icing conditions including assessment of anti-icing/de-icing system effectiveness.
  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including Ice Protection Systems, Propulsion, and Mechanical Integration, to address icing-related design considerations.
  • Leading participation in multi-disciplinary aircraft design reviews to ensure icing-related risks and compliance are addressed.
  • Support certification efforts by providing technical documentation and analysis to regulatory authorities (e.g., EASA, FAA).
  • Stay updated on industry standards and best practices related to flight in icing certification.



Required Skills and Experiences:

  • Higher education in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, mathematics, or equivalent.
  • Three or more years of professional experience in Aerodynamics.
  • Experience in aircraft design including aerodynamics in icing conditions.
  • Proficiency in at least one high-level programming language (e.g., Python, C++).
  • Practical experience in aerodynamics, particularly in icing-related simulations and analyses.
  • Experience with high-fidelity CFD tools and icing simulation software (e.g., FENSAP-ICE, IGLOO, LEWICE, or similar).
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements for flight in icing certification (e.g., FAR Part 25, CS 25).
  • Strong desire to work, learn, and grow as part of a high-performing team.
