Praedoc (DISS) (f/m/x) in Numerical Analysis / PhD student position
(Teilzeit)
for an initial period of one year (with possible extensions up to a maximum of four years).
Your Tasks
The position is within the framework of the FWF-funded project Universality of Algorithms for Multivariate Problems led jointly by Dr. Peter Kritzer (RICAM) and Dr. Friedrich Pillichshammer (JKU). The position is located at RICAM, and available from September 1, 2026 onwards, and the working language is English.
The successful candidate will work on research in the topics of Quasi-Monte Carlo Algorithms, Numerical Analysis, Multivariate Algorithms, Uniform Distribution Theory, and their applications. For further information, please contact Dr. Peter Kritzer at peter.kritzer@oeaw.ac.at.

Your Profile
- Master Degree in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics or a closely related field.
- A strong background in at least one of the following areas: Numerical Analysis, Scientific Computing, Number Theory, Approximation Theory, or Functional Analysis.
- Good command of English in speaking and writing.
- Capacity for teamwork.

- The minimum annual gross salary for this position is EUR 53.140,92 (full-time based), in accordance with the collective agreement of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW). For part-time employment, the salary will be adjusted on a pro rata basis in line with the agreed working hours.
